Also, if the person is the only representative of such a company, which plans to set up a United Kingdom branch or a subsidiary for an overseas parent association and if the citizen is an employee of an overseas newspaper, broadcasting organization, or news agency sent on an assignment (long-term) to the UK, he/she can apply for such a leave. Besides these conditions, the person must meet other eligibility requirements, as well:
- must have enough money to support himself or herself, without any help from the public funds,
- must meet the English requirement, which is consisted of passing an approved test (at least CEFR level A1, in listening and speaking) and having an academic qualification (taught in English) and recognized as being equivalent to a UK master’s degree, bachelor’s degree or Ph.D.

Time until receiving the leave
The earliest time that a representative of a foreign company can apply for this type of leave is three months before he/she travels to the United Kingdom. Also, the person must know that a decision on his/her visa will be received within three weeks, depending on the country from which he or she is applying. A visa for a representative of an overseas business costs £546. For an employee of an overseas broadcasting organization, news agency, or newspaper, the visa will cost the same amount.
